VET Student Loans can be accessed for approved courses only and a maximum loan amount applies - capped at  $5,358,   $10,717 and $16,077 as defined for each approved course delivered at Holmesglen.

The VET Student Loans scheme is a student loans program that replaced the VET FEE-HELP to give eligible students access to quality higher level VET qualifications, particularly those who could not afford to pay upfront.

This loan remains your personal debt obligation until it is repaid to the Australian Government.

Students need to meet the eligibility criteria, entry requirements  and complete administrative requirements to access VET Student Loans.

If you wish to apply for VET Student Loans for your qualification, please discuss the eligibility and entry requirements  with our staff during your interview process and at the Student Information Office on your nearest campus.

VET Student Loans is part of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) debt and must be repaid to the Australian Government by the student at the prescribed repayment rate. Students approved for VET Student Loans must commence repayment of the HELP debt when the student's repayment income is above the compulsory repayment threshold. The compulsory repayment threshold is adjusted each year and is accessible on the Study Assist website.

The compulsory repayment threshold has changed from 1 July 2019.  If you have a VET Student Loan, you must advise your employer so that your employer can withhold an additional amount from your salary and wage income to cover your compulsory loan repayment. More information about voluntary repayment to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) may be accessed from the Australian Taxation Office website.
This HELP debt may affect your take-home (after-tax) wage or salary (by reducing the wage or salary) and may affect your borrowing capacity until the HELP debt is repaid. You may wish to seek independent financial advice prior to applying for a VET Student Loan.

The Australian Government, Department of Education, Skills and Employment contains important information about the VET Student Loans program. It is important that you read and understand the information available to you and the information in the VET Student Loans information booklet and Holmesglen's related policies and procedures before applying.
