Ruchika Perera
Ruchika Perera - Finalist

MSF20313 Certificate II in Furniture Making

Ruchika Perera’s teachers describe his furniture creations as some of the best they have seen in 25 years.

“He truly is one exceptionally talented student,” says teacher Scott Keating. “Ruchika went over and above the standard building of the projects.”

Described as possessing supreme accuracy and manual skill, Ruchika’s move into furniture design was motivated by his father, a fellow furniture maker in Sri Lanka.

Despite obtaining a PhD in climate change and agriculture, and having won awards in the field, Ruchika’s passion for furniture design was undeniable.

He has used skills obtained in his course to start a small business, where he works out of his home workshop.
