Bachelor of Sports Media
Brent Sternberg - 2021 winner
A love of sport inspired Brent Sternberg to move from the country to undertake Holmesglen’s industry-engaged sports media degree.
Described as a natural leader in the classroom by his teachers, Brent’s biggest achievement was recovering from a third liver transplant during his studies.
When the course leaders visited Brent in ICU to support his recovery, he was determined to continue his studies as it gave him a positive focus.
"My main goals when coming to Holmesglen were to be someone who would stimulate class discussions, have a laugh, but also be a superior student.”
Brent looks forward to resuming as a volunteer VFL caller at Casey Radio and producing his show about the National Football League. He has also secured an internship at SEN.

Liam has been involved in several leadership projects, including presentations to multiple student groups on horticulture careers.
He has also acted as an assistant to Holmesglen Gardening Service’s placement teacher, who has helped 30 students find placement.
Liam’s proudest achievement is his growth in confidence. He says, “My communication skills have definitely changed the most.”

Robert struggled previously at a specialist school but blossomed after joining Holmesglen’s Transition Education cohort.
The course is designed to help people develop their employability skills, confidence and independence – all things Robert wanted to improve.
Robert’s initial reluctance was eased by Holmesglen’s Education Manager and since then, he has worked hard and even successfully performed a part in a 2020 remote drama production.
His teachers say the fact Robert has engaged so successfully with remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrates his progress and perseverance.
Robert enjoys working with his classmates and always lends a helping hand. His teachers say he is very caring and motivates them to do their best.
