
Melanie Closter - Winner

Melanie Closter is intensely passionate about Australian architectural design, environmentally sustainable building practices and making an impact in her chosen industry.
After completing an Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) while in her third trimester, Melanie studied our building diploma to complement her drafting work and pursue a goal of working in project management for the industry.
Despite pandemic challenges, Melanie remained resolute about her studies, career passions and young family.
Melanie gives much of herself to others. She volunteers for Beaumaris Modern, assists the Ian Wong Collection with research, helps her child’s school, minds pets and is a swimming instructor. Melanie also loves sport and is a former W-League referee.
Amy-Claire Wilson - Finalist
Chc52015 Diploma of Community Services
Amy-Claire Wilson is an outstanding student whose life has been transformed by TAFE.
She is now a proud Holmesglen team member – Placement Administration Officer in our Social Sciences Department.
Inspired by those who’ve helped her in life, Amy-Claire chose to study community services and became a carer to a friend. She says her dedicated Holmesglen teachers were key to getting her through her studies at the Moorabbin campus during the pandemic.
Her academic excellence, communication skills and empathy for others, saw Amy-Claire selected to be a case manager for final year placement, working with our Certificate I Transition Education learners.
Amy-Claire says her story proves it is possible to empower vulnerable people on to success.

Amanda Meehan - Finalist
HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing
Amanda Meehan enrolled in the nursing diploma to serve the community and be a role model for her six children.
Recently named City of Greater Dandenong’s 2022 Citizen of the Year, Amanda says her Holmesglen teachers were pivotal in her success.
TAFE has given Amanda opportunities to expand her existing community work.
She is a foster mother to an under-privileged child, president of a local kindergarten, cricket club volunteer, council advisory board member, surrogacy advocate and a surrogate.
Amanda’s academic excellence was respected by her peers. Despite busy community commitments, Amanda was always a model student on campus and during placement.
Now undertaking our Bachelor of Nursing, Amanda continues to inspire others with her positive attitude toward life and study.
