Finalist - Luke Chapman

Diploma of Community Services

As part of his studies toward a Diploma in Community Services, Luke’s placement involved assisting a young learner with support needs. His role changed the life of the young person.

Without Luke’s assistance, the young learner would not have been able to proceed with his studies. Luke varied his communications style to meet his client’s needs and due to his dedication and commitment, excelled in the course.

During the pandemic, Luke undertook his placement, attending campus (with special permissions during lockdown) at a time when leaving one’s house was often a difficult and lonely experience.

“Luke was exceptional support and showed courage, dedication and commitment to his profession,” says Head of Department, Alyssa Forbes-Nicholson.

Finalist - Tia Pastore

Diploma of Sport with SIT50322 Diploma of Event Management

Tia came to Holmesglen with a clear plan. She saw the course as a great pathway to the start of her dream career and has walked through every door that has been opened to her along the way.

She was quickly on employers' radars and has successfully leveraged her studies and opportunities to secure a start with the Sandringham Dragons.

“Tia was always one of the first to put her hand up for placement opportunities,” says teacher Marc Nichol.

“This put her front and centre for prospective employers within the St Kilda Football Club and their partners. She has been successful securing a job with the Sandringham Dragons who are affiliated with the Saints.”
