 Sapphire Care is a well-respected and highly successful Victorian aged care operator. Since its establishment in 2003 it has garnered a reputation for providing quality aged care living. At the forefront of this reputation is its determination to provide exceptional customer care and lifestyle. In order to achieve this, Sapphire Care places a strong emphasis on employee values which exemplify the attributes of integrity, performance and teamwork. 

Sapphire Care approached Professional Workforce Solutions (PWS) to establish a professional learning and development program which would provide its key residential management staff with key skills that would enhance their leadership and efficiency. Sapphire Care was eager to partner with PWS given PWS’ success in implementing the 70:20:10 frameworks for their learning development programs.
PWS designed a comprehensive 70:20:10 program consisting of classroom-based education and training, participant engagement in a workplace based activity and self-coaching sessions. In August 2017, 20 Sapphire Care employees began a one month professional learning and development program which was facilitated at the organisation’s head office. The topics for the program were Adaptive Leadership, Emotional Intelligence and Time of Your Life (PWS’ unique time management program). The topics came from PWS’ core offerings across the Professional Essentials and Leadership suite. Each core program has been developed to educate the workforce with skills and knowledge of professional behaviours and leadership.

The Results 
Participants indicated that the learning program was extremely effective in meeting their expectations. With 100% of participants agreed that both the topics and format of the program was either very effective or extremely effective. Participants advised that the overall program was insightful and imparted new skills and knowledge that will be valuable for building strong employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.
