Starting a small business can be extremely overwhelming, to find out if this is the right path for you, explore our range of start up programs. 
 

Explore being my own boss is a workshop designed to help job seekers learn what it means to be an entrepreneur or small business owner. During the workshop, you will learn about the soft and technical skills needed to achieve your business goals, as well as discover more about yourself.

You are not required to set up your business at the end of the workshop, but to have an appreciation of how to do it and an understanding of whether entrepreneurship is a viable career path for you. If you are confident, at the conclusion of this program, that starting a small business is the right path for you joining a NEIS program is likely to be the next step for you.

This is a free workshop, which is run face-to-face in several locations around Melbourne and Adelaide. The course duration is 10 days.

Personal Eligibility

Participants must be:
• receiving an eligible Centrelink allowance, or
• working 15 hours or less per week, and not studying full-time
• and are able to attend the Workshop full time (10 days, 10-3pm each day)

This program is a fee-based program which will assist you with establishing your own small business. You will learn the core essentials and stages of a business start-up which includes: market research, marketing, legal and insurance requirements, and financial planning.

Graduates will finish with a fully costed, commercially viable business plan that reflects the intentions of the new business venture. In addition, the course fee includes 4 mentor sessions to assist you with your business start-up. You will choose your mentor from our panel of industry experts. Graduates will also gain access to the NAB Microenterprise Loan Program.
