Kick off your career in the sports industry at Holmesglen, with the dual Diploma of Sport Development with the Diploma of Event Management.
The Diploma of Sport Development teaches you how to manage meetings and projects, plan and implement high performance training, coaching and recovery programs and support athletes to adopt principles of sport psychology.
Through the Diploma of Event Management, you'll have the opportunity to attend major events such as the Australian Grand Prix, A League soccer and National Basketball League, visit the Victorian Institute of Sport and gain hands-on experience volunteering at a major event.
To prepare you for a career as a sport coach, administrator, sports club or event manager, you’ll organise swimming and athletic carnivals, and plan, organise and coach various sports and recreational activities.
Practical placement is a key component for these qualifications. It is a structured program designed to give all students a true ‘hands on’ experience prior to entering the industry. Practical placement is designed to bridge the gap between study and employment.
When you graduate, you’ll receive the nationally endorsed Diploma of Sports Development and the Diploma of Event Management.
Afterwards, you can transfer your credits to the Bachelor of Sport Business or delve into the industry straight away.
This program has compulsory activities/materials as part of the learning experience. The department will confirm the cost of these activities/materials prior to your enrolment. You will also be required to provide a Working with Children Check.
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards

Develop Strength And Conditioning Programs
Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent and preferably some relevant
English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (Academic) with no individual bandscore
less than 5.5.
Prior to the first scheduled placement students are required to provide a current Working With
Children Check (WWCC).
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. QUALIFICATION AND RECOGNITION
After successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed SIS50612 Diploma of Sports Development and SIT50316 Diploma of Event Management
Graduates of this course can apply to articulate into the BSPB16 Bachelor of Sport Business
