Studying the Certificate III in Beauty Services at Holmesglen
At Holmesglen, we focus on making sure you have a strong customer-service approach when consulting with clients, so you're ready to walk into a job at your future salon.
This is a VET Delivered to Secondary Students (previously VETiS) course and can only be completed as part of your VCE or VCAL program.
The Certificate III in Beauty Services SHB30115 VETis program is a two-year program delivered one day a week via on campus and virtual off-campus "WebEx" sessions for four hours per week.
In the first year, students will complete make up artistry skills and pedicure / manicure skills, which includes nail services, services, make up and other related salon services.
First Aid is also completed in the first year.
In the second year, students will complete a higher level of complexity for the make up, as well as completing waxing skills.
Students will have training in how to access material from the library for referencing and research related to their study requirements using the internet and intranet.

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
There are no specified entry requirements. Students are required to be current school students and enrolled in the VETis program in either year 10, 11 or 12 at one of the schools that Holmesglen has an agreement with.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Students are required to have basic computer skills, mainly to prepare Word and Excel documents, turn a computer on and off, use search engines such as Google, type documents, and access the Holmesglen learning management system (LMS) and research topics relevant to industry information and sources.
Computer and Internet use skills includes basic word and formatting / data entry skills required for assessments and client bookings.
Qualification and recognition
On completion, students will receive the SHB30115 Certificate III in Beauty Services and will be able to register as a beautician and work within a beauty, waxing, brow or nail salon.
