Technology students and teachers are likely to be using a range of equipment and machines that, by their nature, present a higher risk than other areas of the curriculum. This listing is for the full accredited course 22454VIC in Safe Use of Machinery for Technology Teaching. The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 (Part 3.5 - Plant) require employers to identify and control risks associated with machinery and plant in the workplace. The School Principal is responsible for ensuring that the relevant safety precautions for operating machinery in the school are implemented and that teachers have had the appropriate training and have attained the required levels of competency in machinery and plant. This course is confined to instructions in the safe use of operating machinery in a technology teaching environment in schools.


Requirements

    • Pen, notebook and your own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
    • Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number - This must be done online, PRIOR to attending the course
    • Photo ID: Drivers Licence, Learners Permit, Student ID or Passport
    • Successful completion of Knowledge Assessment which is provided beforehand. Students are asked to bring their completed Knowledge Assessment with them at the commencement of their course.
    • Successful completion of Observation Assessments
    • IMPORTANT: The Knowledge Assessment is a prerequisite and is required by the Department of Education and Training
    • Prior to the commencement of the course, you must complete the Knowledge Assessment, which will be sent with final confirmation.
    • We cannot issue a Statement of Attainment unless you have completed the Knowledge Assessment.
    • PPE = Protective glasses, hearing protection (ear muffs or ear plugs), safety boots if you have them

    • Assessment is a mixture of practical and theoretical tasks on appropriate machinery and equipment, prescribed by the Education Department
