Become confident using SQL (Structured Query Language), a language used by commercial database management systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL and MySQL. Learn to set up a database structure for a typical small business how to retrieve and modify data as well as creating and altering database objects, like tables and views. Course includes manual and CD allowing students to set up their own MySQL database management system, students are also able to connect to the MySQL server to access and control the database.


    • USB memory stick (2GB minimum)
    • Pen and notebook
    • There are no prerequisites for this course


    • Install and set up MySQL Database Management System plus Apache Web Server and PHP programming language
    • Use client tools to access MySQL database server; MySQL command-line console and phpMyAdmin graphical user interface
    • Learn SQL Syntax, create Database, run set up scripts to create tables for class exercises
    • Retrieve data - SELECT statements, grouping data, joining tables, subqueries
    • Manipulate data – data manipulation language (DML) Statements – INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, controlling transactions
    • Create, alter and delete Database Object - data definition language (DDL)
