In this introductory course you will gain an understanding of fashion design and how to design a garment. Undertake research into fashion trends and translate your ideas and inspiration onto paper using a fashion figure. Learn a basic understanding of colours and fabrications across knitted and woven fabrics and apply the correct textiles and applications to your designs. Students are encouraged to develop their creative skills whilst applying technical understanding throughout this course.

    • Pencils lead 2B, 3B and eraser
    • Fineliners
    • Tape measure
    • Fabric swatches
    • Colour swatches
    • Drawing paper
    • Magazines
    • Ruler
    • Two garments of choice (can be student's own garments)
    • There are no prerequisites for this course

    • Learn to understand the design process form initial ideas to design format
    • Learn to create an understanding of both knitted and woven fabrics
    • Learn to develop fashion drawing skills
    • Learn to understand drawing tools and how to apply to designs
