The Introduction to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a short course which will give you a clear understanding of the scheme and what it means to work with a person who accesses the scheme.

The course is designed for:
- people who have just started working in the disability sector as a direct support worker (DSW)
- people already working in the disability sector who would like to learn more about the NDIS
- aged care workers, nurses, education support workers, childcare workers, or people with other qualifications who work with people accessing the NDIS.

While this short course can provide a pathway to further qualifications, it is not meant to replace full certificate-level qualifications.


This course is designed for those needing to disconnect and reconnect equipment associated with their primary trade, vocation or occupation, such as licensed tradespersons or people holding a relevant CPC32413 Certificate III in plumbing.

The course provides the units of competency necessary to apply to Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) for a Restricted Electrical Worker's Licence (Class 2).


This course is designed for those needing to disconnect and reconnect equipment associated with their primary trade, vocation or occupation, such as licensed tradespersons or people holding a relevant certificate III in mechanical fitting.

The course provides the units of competency necessary to apply to Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) for a Restricted Electrical Worker's Licence (Class 2).


This course is designed for people needing to disconnect and reconnect equipment associated with their primary trade, vocation or occupation, such as licensed tradespersons or people holding a relevant Certificate III or Refrigeration and Air Conditioning qualification.

The course provides the units of competency necessary to apply to Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) for a Restricted Electrical Worker's Licence - Class 2 (previously named Disconnect/Reconnect Worker's Licence).

The Case Management skill set has been designed to provide community service graduates or professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to work as or enhance their skills in case management.


The Victorian Government has set a minimum qualification strategy for residential care workers in Victoria.

The new minimum standards require residential care workers to have skills and knowledge in working with children, young people and their families who have experienced trauma, working in a residential care setting and managing complex behaviours.

This skill set will give workers with existing qualifications at a Certificate IV level or higher in community services, welfare, youth work or related fields of study the minimum standards to work in a residential care setting.


The Holmesglen Vocational College offers a six month VCAL Foundation program to young people who recognise their learning style is suited to vocational education and a hands-on teaching.

This program is aimed at students who are half way through Year 10 and want to make the transition to an adult learning environment to complete their Senior Secondary certificate in VCAL.

This course introduces you to all facets of the fashion design and production process.

You will learn how to create fashion illustrations, both by hand and digitally, put together colour and fabric proposals, draft patterns and sew garments.

You will learn all of these skills in purpose built, industry standard facilities and on the latest industrial equipment, taught by industry professionals.

You will have the skills to find employment in the furniture, cabinet making, furniture design, wood machining, joinery, shopfitting and building industries.

Students who successfully complete this course and go on to find employment as apprentices may be provided with credit for some of the units completed in this course.

Health services assistants often work across health disciplines to assist health professionals working with patients under supervision. This course is delivered at Holmesglen's Moorabbin campus and will provide you with comprehensive training to perform essential services such as: patient transport and movement, food service, maintaining beds, infection control and clinical cleaning.

All our clinical specialist units are taught by practising health professionals. Your learning will be supported through a range of classes, online activities and tutorials. Practical sessions are conducted in our state-of-the-art allied health facility, with simulated hospital and community environments.

This course will provides you with the knowledge and skills to work as a pathology collector in the private pathology sector, medical clinics and hospital settings.

As a licensed refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic, you will assemble, install and repair industrial, commercial and domestic air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

This could range from installing ducted air-conditioning in a family home to maintaining large walk-in refrigeration units for businesses needing mass food storage.

Transform your love for animals into a rewarding career with the Certificate III in Animal Studies.

Throughout this course you’ll learn about the basic care of domestic animals in the companion animal industry, with a specific focus on dogs, cats and birds.

This includes hygiene practices, ensuring health and wellbeing, recognising behaviour, infection control, nutritional requirements, enrichment needs and reception duties.

Compulsory on-campus practical simulation activities, as well as an 80 hour off-campus placement in an animal workplace, will help you to put your knowledge into practice.

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge you need to perform the role of a fitness instructor who undertakes a range of activities and functions within the fitness industry. It provides a pathway for you to work as an instructor providing exercise instruction for group and gym programs.

As a graduate of this course, you will work independently with some level of autonomy in environments such as fitness, leisure, aquatic and community centres, where risks are managed through pre-existing risk assessment and hazard control processes.

Because the course specialises in gym instruction, you will learn how to provide individually tailored client assessments, provide technique correction as needed, and develop and demonstrate programs. It also includes supervision of a facility or service, keeping equipment clean, tidy and well maintained, and handling various customer enquiries.

After completing this course, you will be able to register with Fitness Australia or Physical Activity Australia in the category of Exercise Instructor.


Are you interested in doing a paid traineeship in games while still at school? Lightmare Studios is looking for Victorian school students to complete a school-based traineeship (SBAT) in ICT30115 Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology at our Moorabbin Campus.

The traineeship will be offered in Semester 2, 2018. You will need to attend classes on campus each Wednesday during term time from 9am - 5pm, Building 4.

And you will be paid for undertaking two 3.5-hour work shifts after school each week for six and half months, earning on average over the period around $2,200.

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) will train you to provide person-centred support to older people in an aged care setting.

You will learn how to provide physical, social and emotional support to clients. You will also learn how to work as part of a team with other professionals such as nurses and healthcare workers.

You will complete four weeks of work placement with one of our industry partners to help you put your skills into practice. With an ageing population, there is high demand for qualified staff in the sector. Many of our students are offered work on completion of their placement.


The course is a blend of practical and classroom based delivery that is conducted in Holmesglen's modern kitchens. The skills and knowledge learnt will give you the ability to work in a range of kitchens within industry professionally and with confidence.

This course enables you to plan and implement appropriate care and educational experiences for young children. Through the combination of face-to-face, online and practicum based learning, you will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to work effectively as a professional team member in an early childhood service.

This course applies to you if you wish to learn theories, models, interventions and practical skills within the area of youth work and alcohol and other drugs.

It is a dual qualification so that after successful completion, you will leave with a CHC50413 Diploma of Youth Work and a CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs.

In this course, you will develop an understanding of issues affecting disadvantaged and diverse young people, and gain the skills you'll need to work with young people and their families.
