The Certificate II in Horticulture has been developed for those looking for an introduction to the horticulture industry.

You will study in Holmesglen's specialised horticulture training facilities which includes access to industry machinery, landscaping and turf management grounds and park facilities.


The Certificate II in Engineering Studies pre-apprenticeship course is designed to provide pre-employment training and a pathway into the engineering industry.

It will provide you with a range of skills such as welding, reading and creating engineering drawings, basic machining, fabrication, and use of basic hand and power tools.

Engineers are interested in how things work and are employed to design, invent, create, maintain and improve everything from buildings bridges and aeroplanes, to plastics and computers.

Fabrication trades people learn to make and repair metal fabricated products, including the shaping, cutting and welding of metal. They are often engaged in projects that involve heavy metal design in construction, mining, manufacturing, power generation and shipping industries.

This new qualification has been specifically developed to reflect the minimum training requirement specified for employment in the engineering and fabrication industry.


This furniture and joinery semester pathway program gives you the opportunity to work safely using hand and power tools to construct timber furnishing products.

It is suitable if you are interested in furniture design, kitchen design, furniture making, cabinet making, wood machining, joinery, shopfitting and stair building.


This Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship (Bricklaying) is a VET Delivered to Secondary School Students program.

This course has been developed for the specific requirements of the bricklaying industry.You will undertake training in hand skills, trade terminology and the use of various products, including clay bricks and concrete masonry.

Much of a bricklayer's work is straightforward, but often requires skill and judgement. You must understand working drawings of buildings and be able to apply basic mathematics.

Bricklayers also do more complicated work, such as constructing arches and building fireplaces.

These jobs require training, ability and experience.

This course introduces you to all facets of the fashion design and production process.

You will learn how to create fashion illustrations, both by hand and digitally, put together colour and fabric proposals, draft patterns and sew garments.

The Certificate III in Accounts Administration provides the skills and knowledge you require for a variety of positions within the Australian financial services industry.

It is suitable for people who perform a range of financial roles within an organisation, including the classifying, recording and reporting of accounting information, and other office statements.

The on-campus delivery is highly interactive with structured face-to-face classes, challenging and relevant assignments and projects.


Transform your love for animals into a rewarding career with the Certificate III in Animal Studies.

Throughout this course you’ll learn about the basic care of domestic animals in the companion animal industry, with a specific focus on dogs and cats.

This includes hygiene practices, ensuring health and wellbeing, recognising behaviour, infection control, nutritional requirements, enrichment needs and reception duties.

Compulsory on-campus practical simulation activities will help you to put your knowledge into practice.

The Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical) will teach you a range of systems and procedures to succeed in a medical administration role. This includes how to maintain patient records, prepare and process medical accounts and write simple documents.

We also teach you medical terminology so you can step into the industry with confidence.

After successfully completing your studies, you’ll be eligible to receive the nationally endorsed BSB31115 Certificate III in Business Administration (Medical).

From there, you can jump right into medical administrative roles – or pursue further study with our BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business or HLT47315 Certificate IV in Health Administration.


The Certificate III in Cabinet Making will give you a range of skills and knowledge in kitchen, bathroom, installation and furniture making for the manufacture of furniture and cabinetry products.

You will learn to use a range of specialist machinery, as well as preparing and working from computer-aided drawings and associated cutting lists.

In regards to each machine, you will learn about the material you are processing and how to use the machine itself - from basic to high-end production machinery such as computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines.

You will be taught the correct setup, operational, basic maintenance, troubleshooting of machining and construction methods for furniture making and kitchens/bathrooms.


The Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is a blend of practical and classroom-based delivery that is conducted in Holmesglen's modern kitchens. The skills and knowledge learnt will give you the ability to work in a range of kitchens within industry professionally and with confidence.

Further employment could be gained in various enterprises where food is prepared and served including restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias and coffee shops.


The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care will give you the skills to plan and implement appropriate care and educational experiences for young children.

Through a combination of face-to-face, online and practicum based learning, you will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to work effectively as a professional team member in an early childhood service.

These skills include gaining an understanding of legal and ethical requirements, engaging with young children and their families, facilitating children's leisure and play, and fostering holistic development and wellbeing.

Graduates may work under direct supervision and may also have limited supervisory responsibilities of volunteers.


This course has been designed by experienced educators to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to become a support worker within a range of educational settings.

You will learn how to: support students with literacy and numeracy skills, cater for the different learning styles, put into practise support behaviour strategies and apply the principles of inclusion and diversity.

The Certificate III in Fitness provides you with the skills and knowledge you need to perform the role of a fitness instructor who undertakes a range of activities and functions within the fitness industry. Your floristry skills will be put to use to celebrate some of your customers' most important life experiences.

Holmesglen's qualified and experienced floristry teachers will assist you to achieve the skills you will need to begin or advance your career in the retail or creative floristry industries.

You will learn all aspects of floristry techniques and design, including a complete range of hand held, fully wired and base medium techniques.

You will also learn to advance your customer relations and retail skills throughout the year.

Floristry at Holmesgle has a strong design focus. Along with floristry techniques and customer relations you will learn a variety of creative skills including drawing, visual display and event design.

Student participation in floristry competitions is encouraged and you will be involved in creating Holmesglen's entry in the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.

At the completion of the course you will be a qualified florist in accordance with the National Industry Competency Standards for floristry and be ready to work in a retail or floristry related business.


Study the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance to become a health services assistant, working across health disciplines to assist other health professionals with patients.

The course is delivered at Holmesglen's Moorabbin campus and will provide you with comprehensive training to perform essential services such as: patient transport and movement, food service, maintaining beds, infection control and clinical cleaning.

Study the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance to become a health services assistant, specialising as a theatre technician.

The course is delivered at Holmesglen's Moorabbin campus and provides comprehensive training in assisting
health professionals in an operating theatre. This involves:
- preparing and maintaining an operating theatre and its equipment
- assisting surgical team during operations
- providing support to patients in the recovery room.

Develop the skills to provide person-centred support to older people in an aged care setting with our Certificate III in Individual Support.

You will learn how to provide physical, social and emotional support to the elderly. You will also learn how to work as part of a team with other professionals such as nurses and healthcare workers.

You will complete four weeks of work placement with one of our industry partners to help you put your skills into practice.

With an ageing population, there is high demand for qualified aged care workers. Many of our students are offered work on completion of their placement.

Are you interested in doing a paid traineeship in games while still at school? Lightmare Studios is looking for Victorian school students to complete a school-based traineeship (SBAT) in ICT30115 Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology at our Moorabbin Campus.

You will need to attend classes on campus each Wednesday during term time from 9am - 5pm, Building 4.

And you will be paid for undertaking two 3.5-hour work shifts after school each week for six and half months, earning on average over the period around $2,200.

You will learn basic web page design, digital imaging, video, 2D/3D animation and IT support. The Certificate III in Joinery provides comprehensive training in all practical and theoretical aspects of joinery.

You will learn to use Oxy-LPG equipment, as well as to cut and install glass, install windows and doors and undertake sustainable practices in the construction industry.

You'll be trained on full-sized projects in Holmesglen's specially designed and industry-standard facilities.


The Certificate III in Painting and Decorating provides comprehensive training for painting and decorating apprentices in all practical and theoretical aspects of the trade.

Learn hands-on skills from teachers who are industry professionals, in specialised facilities tailored to provide the best educational environment, so you learn the skills your employer needs.


The Certificate III in Pathology Collection will give you the knowledge and skills to work as a pathology collector in the private pathology sector, medical clinics and hospital settings.

You will be trained in areas including phlebotomy (blood collection), infection control, ECG, first aid, customer service, work organisation and medical terminology.

The course is delivered in Holmesglen's specialised pathology and biotechnology education facility, where an emphasis is placed on practical training. You will practise your newly acquired skills in our fully operational clinical skills laboratory, giving you the opportunities to refine your skills so you feel confident entering the workforce.

Our teachers are all qualified pathology collectors with current industry experience. The Certificate III in Patisserie will give you the skills to pursue job opportunities in the world of patisserie through Holmesglen's specialised training program.

Throughout your studies, you will gain the ability to become a qualified cook, specialising in patisserie.

Future work may be undertaken in various hospitality and retail enterprises where patisserie products are prepared and served, including restaurants, hotels, patisseries, bakeries, cafes and coffee shops.


The Certificate III in Telecommunications Network Build and Operate prepares you to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the demand and quality standards for the rollout of high speed NBN infrastructure.

This course is designed with working professionals in mind, meaning no formal pre-requisites or work experience is required. As an approved NBN Training Provider these courses have been aligned with outcomes in the NBN workforce.

There are two course streams being offered for this course.

You can choose to study Telecommunications Technician specialising in Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial (HFC) Carrier Networks or in Optical Fibre Carrier Networks.


Telecommunications Technician - (Fibre)
This course stream is a pathway for you to become a qualified telecommunications technician specialising in Optical Fibre carrier networks.

You will learn how to perform equipment and system installation work to enable efficient access and connection to NBN communication services through Optical Fibre delivery. This comprehensive course also includes study of mental health and chronic disease to help you understand the whole person and their health needs. You will also learn how to screen clients for malnutrition and dietary assessment.

This program has compulsory activities/materials as part of the learning experience. The department will confirm the cost of these activities/materials prior to your enrolment. You will also be required to provide a Working with Children Check.


The Certificate IV in Horticulture allows you to develop post-trade skills and knowledge across a broad coverage of the horticulture industry, prior to undertaking higher level roles in the workplace.

You will learn a variety of skills including the design and implementation of special plant displays and the provision of advice on plant selection and landscape solutions for domestic and commercial situations.

This course is suitable if you are currently working in the industry, or if you are interested in entering the field and need to build on practical and theoretical skills.

It is also suitable if you are involved in the business or entrepreneurial aspects of the horticulture industry and need to acquire skills in assessing technical, economic and managerial issues.

After completing this course, you are qualified to undertake supervisory roles and maintenance of public and private parks, reserves and gardens, natural bush land and community recreation areas.


Through this Certificate IV in Fitness, you will learn how to tailor personal training programs for a range of clients, including older adults and children.

The course will teach you how to use a diverse range of personal training equipment, operate in different environments, and design programs for one-on-one, group and functional training.

After completing this course, you will receive the nationally endorsed SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness, which will enable you to register with either Fitness Australia or Physical Activity Australia as both a fitness instructor (gym) and personal trainer.

The Certificate IV in Leisure and Health will teach you how to design, implement and evaluate leisure and health activities for aged care and community services clients.

The Certificate IV in Community Services is a unique course as all 7 electives have been carefully selected to provide applicants with specific knowledge and skills around working within a family violence framework.

The Certificate IV in Community Services is tailored to build skills and knowledge around family violence for those currently looking to up-skill or seeking employment.


This dual Certificate IV in Youth Work and Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs will give you practical and real-world experience working with young people.

Throughout this course, you will gain experience in planning and implementing a range of conservation and land management projects including mapping and biodiversity projects, inspection and monitoring cultural places, re-vegetation projects, plant identification, pest plant and animal management, developing interpretive activities, fauna management, and flora and fauna identification.

All of our projects are run jointly with public land management agencies, which may include Mornington Peninsula Shire, Kingston City Council, Parks Victoria, and the National Trust of Victoria.

The Diploma of Dental Technology is a two-year hands-on course which will give you the skills to work as a dental technician.

The Introduction to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a short course which will give you a clear understanding of the scheme and what it means to work with a person who accesses the scheme.

The course is designed for:
- people who have just started working in the disability sector as a direct support worker (DSW)
- people already working in the disability sector who would like to learn more about the NDIS
- aged care workers, nurses, education support workers, childcare workers, or people with other qualifications who work with people accessing the NDIS.

While this short course can provide a pathway to further qualifications, it is not meant to replace full certificate-level qualifications.
