The Certificate III in Tourism gives secondary school students a basic grounding for a career in travel and tourism, a fast-growing, dynamic industry.

Studying the Certificate III in Tourism at Holmesglen
You will learn how to prepare quotes, source airfares for domestic flights and sell tourism products and services. We also teach you how to provide great customer service and participate in safe work practices.
There’s even an optional Gold Coast trip to explore Queensland’s tourism industry and the operations of a theme park.
This course is a VET Delivered to Secondary School Students (previously VETiS) course and can only be completed as part of your VCE or VCAL program.
Upon graduating successfully, you’ll receive credits toward your VCE or VCAL. You can then enhance your career opportunities with further studies in travel or tourism.
Timetable: Wednesday 1.30pm - 5pm
15 units must be completed:
• 4 core units
• 11 elective units, consisting of:
• 3 units from Group A and 3 units from Group B
• 6 units from Group C
• 6 units from Group D
• 6 units from Group A, B, C or E
• the remaining 5 units may be selected from another elective group, or elsewhere in the SIT Training Package, or any other current Training Package or accredited course.

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
When undertaking the course, you must be enrolled as a VCE or VCAL student at a Victorian secondary school.
The VET in Secondary School coordinator at your school will determine you ability to undertake this training.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.
These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Qualification and recognition
On completion of all required units, graduates will be awarded the SIT30116 Certificate III in Tourism.
You’ll also receive credits toward your VCE or VCAL. You can then enhance your career opportunities with further studies in travel or tourism.
