The Certificate IV in Patisserie will give you the skills and knowledge to become a qualified cook specialising in patisserie, and to hold a team leading or supervisory role.

Course study areas include chocolate, sugar work, sweet buffets, food hygiene and safety, team leadership and managing diversity.

Studying in Holmesglen's state-of-the-art facilities with our industry experienced teaching staff will allow you to step straight into this fast paced, exciting industry.

This could lead to work in various hospitality enterprises where patisserie products are prepared and served, including patisseries, restaurants, hotels, catering operations and coffee shops.


Course structure

To receive this qualification you must complete 26 core units and six elective units.

Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.

If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this program.

Entry requirements

Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent plus relevant employment experience

English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (Academic) with no individual bandscore
less than 5.5.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. After completing this course, you will receive the SIT40716 Certificate IV in Patisserie.

PATHWAYS

Graduates of this course are well positioned to pursue further training opportunities in other areas of hospitality, including specialised training in areas of cookery and bakery, or higher level management training in the SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management, SIT60316 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management or the Bachelor of Hospitality Management.

Bakery and Pastry Open Days

Visit us on Open Day for a formal presentation on the hospitality industry, starting at 5pm, followed by a tour of our fabulous student training restaurants, commercial kitchens and study facilities. After receiving a general overview, we nominate expert staff for you to talk to in detail about patisserie programs, including pathways to further study.
