Studying the Course in EAL at Holmesglen
Offered on a full-time and part-time basis, you'll improve your ability to participate in conversations, understand the information that you read and listen to, write short messages and complete forms.
If you're an eligible Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) client, you could access up to 510 hours of English tuition within the first five years of your arrival without paying any course fees.
Full time 600 contact hours over 9 months. 4 days per week. 5 hours per day
Part time 600 contact hours over 12 months. 3 days per week. 5 hours per day

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

There are no formal entry requirements but you should be from a non-English speaking background and over 18 years old.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.
These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Applicants are placed in the appropriate English course based on an interview and English language assessment.
Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Connections with industry
Holmesglen English Language Centre is working with Melbourne Polytechnic to deliver English programs to AMEP clients in the inner metro Melbourne region.
The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australia Government Department of Education and Training. The program assists migrants and humanitarian entrants develop the English they need to settle successfully and participate socially and economically in Australian life.
