If you're interested in web design/development and multimedia, the Diploma of Website Development is the ideal pathway into the industry.

Through this course, you'll learn to build elegant, responsive websites and web applications using the tools and techniques required in industry. You'll gain practical hands-on experience by working to develop solutions with cutting edge, industry standard skills and technology.

While undertaking this diploma, you will be trained to use a variety of technologies to rapidly prototype and develop websites including: HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap, PHP and MySQL.

You will develop and create rich, responsive and accessible sites with good user interfaces and where a good user experience is the priority.

Digital marketing is an integral skill for any web developer in order to build successful online marketing campaigns, advertising campaigns and email marketing campaigns.

You will learn how to take advantage of website analytics to build targeted campaigns that will achieve tangible results for your clients.

Web video content is in high demand so video/videography subjects have been incorporated to prepare you for creating and edit video content for clients. Additionally you will learn best practices for developing and distributing video marketing content.

Taking advantage of PHP and MySQL you will learn to build powerful web solutions for your clients.

You will develop a comprehensive understanding of the design and technical skills required to work within the web and digital media industry. Delivery format of this course will include face to face student contact along with practical lessons supported by supplementary video/screencasts.

The following skill areas are focused on throughout the duration of this course: graphic design Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, responsive design, user experiences and user interface design (UX & UI), HTML5 CSS3, Bootstrap, Javascript & jQuery, Web application development, PHP, MySQL, content management systems, programming, mobile app design for iOS & Android, video and photography, marketing, search engine optimisation (SEO), advertising campaigns and website analytics.

Entry requirements

Successful completion of the Certificate IV in Web Based Technologies, or an equivalent international qualification with English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (Academic) with no individual bandscore less than 5.0

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Web Design and Development Open Days

If you are interested in web development or 3D game development, come to our Open Day where you can choose to undertake either a web development or a 3D modelling/gaming workshop. Use current industry standard software to create and build a responsive website using the most popular front end framework for developing websites. Alternatively you can have a go at creating 3D models and a 3D game. Talk to teachers about your pathway to a creative career and let us give you a taste of these ever-evolving industries, even if you have had no previous experience. You can also come along to find out more about our VET in Schools course, the Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology. Our experienced teachers will provide you with information on how we can support you to successfully complete units towards your Year 11 and Year 12 studies as well as highlight future study pathways and career opportunities.
