Studying the Certificate III in Enabling Technologies at Holmesglen

The program incorporates two main elective streams: Cyber Security and Hardware Technician. This course is open to secondary school students in Years 10-12. You can learn future work skills while studying in your final years at secondary school. This two-year course will develop your skills in:<p>computer hardware installation and repair<br>helpdesk support<br>cyber security threat detection<br>securing private information from security threats<br>building security awareness best practice in workplace environments<br>working in a team to drive solutions for workplace problems<br>teamwork in supporting business decision making<br>health and safety in a workplace<br>investigating emerging technologies and their job roles.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be enrolled in secondary school.<p>Learners require digital literacy skills and the ability to:<br>turn on a computer<br>connect to the internet<br>use a mouse, keyboard, headset with microphone or speakers and webcam<br>open and close a software application<br>conduct a search in a web browser<br>send and receive emails<br>save a file, and locate a saved file<br>download and install a software application.<p>Applicants intending to learn remotely will require access to a PC computer or laptop with the following minimum specifications:<br>Quad-Core CPU, 8GB of RAM, 200GB of storage, 2 GHz or faster processor<br>Access to an internet connection <br>Windows 10 - available free through Holmesglen OnTheHub<br>PC Monitor 24" (dual monitor optional but preferred)<br>Headset with microphone and webcam<br>Microsoft Office Suite - free access through Holmesglen MyHorizon<br>WebEx - free to download<br>Access to Brightspace, Learning Management System - free to download<br>Storage - free through Holmesglen OneDrive <br>7Zip or an equivalent compression utility - free to download<br>Google Chrome – recommended web browser

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
