Develop the skills to provide person-centred support to older people in an aged care setting with our Certificate III in Individual Support.

You will learn how to provide physical, social and emotional support to the elderly. You will also learn how to work as part of a team with other professionals such as nurses and healthcare workers.

You will complete four weeks of work placement with one of our industry partners to help you put your skills into practice.

With an ageing population, there is high demand for qualified aged care workers. Many of our students are offered work on completion of their placement.

Course structure

To receive this qualification you must complete seven core units and six elective units. Holmesglen has chosen elective units based on industry feedback around the skills required for the job. If you have already completed other eligible units, they may be counted towards this program.

Note: You may be offered a choice between two elective units:
* HLTAID003 Provide first aid
* HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication

Eligibility to study the Assist clients with medication unit is directly related to your working levels in English and Math.

You will need to attend classes two days per week from 9.30am – 4pm. You will also need to complete some online learning tasks.

Practical placement is split into two, two-week blocks and is from 7am – 3pm, Monday to Friday. Holmesglen will find your placement for you and you will be supported by a Holmesglen trainer during your placement.

Before you can start your practical placement, you will be required to:
- provide a clear Victorian Police National Records Check
