This is a VET Delivered to Secondary Students (previously VETiS) course and can only be completed as part of your VCE or VCAL program.

This course is suitable if you are interested in working in the healthcare sector and becoming an allied health assistant or an assistant in nursing.

The two years' part time study will give you an opportunity to commence your studies in one of these fields. The first year is a generic year that all students complete. Students will be required to undertake some units after the completion of their VCE/VCAL program if they wish to receive the full qualification.

The course will be delivered through a mixture of online activities, classroom delivery and laboratories, including in a state of the art allied health laboratory, community apartment and a simulated hospital environment.

You will learn using role plays, simulations, project work and a total of 80 hours of structured workplace learning over two years (40 hours per year), which will be undertaken in a variety of healthcare settings, including medical, sub-acute, acute, community and rehabilitation areas.


Study the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance to become a health services assistant, working across health disciplines to assist other health professionals with patients.

The course is delivered at Holmesglen's Moorabbin campus and will provide you with comprehensive training to perform essential services such as: patient transport and movement, food service, maintaining beds, infection control and clinical cleaning.

All our clinical specialist units are taught by practising health professionals.

Your learning will be supported through a range of classes, online activities and tutorials. Practical sessions are conducted in our state-of-the-art allied health facility, with simulated hospital and community environments.

Our Department of Allied Health Services and Science has strong partnerships with a number of health services in Victoria, providing quality clinical placement experiences for our students that are hands-on and meaningful.

Placements provide you with the opportunity to practice your newly gained skills in a range of settings.

All placements are well supported by fully qualified clinical staff to produce graduates who are work ready for a career as an health services assistant.


Study the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance to become a health services assistant, specialising as a theatre technician.

The course is delivered at Holmesglen's Moorabbin campus and provides comprehensive training in assisting
health professionals in an operating theatre. This involves:
- preparing and maintaining an operating theatre and its equipment
- assisting surgical team during operations
- providing support to patients in the recovery room.

All our clinical specialist units are taught by practising health professionals.

Your learning will be supported through a range of classes, online activities and tutorials. Practical sessions are conducted in our state-of-the-art allied health facility, with simulated hospital and community environments.

This course is delivered at Holmesglen's Moorabbin campus and will provide you with comprehensive training in the specialty streams of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, as well as information about other areas, including group work and community rehabilitation.

All our clinical specialist units are taught by practising allied health professionals and assistants. Your learning will be supported through a range of online activities, lectures and tutorials. Practical sessions are conducted in our state-of-the-art allied health facility, with simulated hospital rehabilitation and community environments.

The Department of Allied Health Services and Science has strong partnerships with a number of health services in Victoria, such as Cabrini Health, providing quality clinical placement experiences for our students that are hands-on and meaningful.

They provide you with the opportunity to practice your newly gained skills in a range of settings, including post-surgical, medical, rehab and community.

All placements are well supported by fully qualified allied health clinical staff to produce graduates who are work ready for a career as an allied health assistant.

This program has compulsory activities/materials as part of the learning experience. The department will confirm the cost of these activities/materials prior to your enrolment.
