Studying the Grid Connected PV with Battery Storage at Holmesglen

The course blends online learning with practical face-to-face on-campus workshops. Students are required to complete online study and attend a series of on-campus practical workshop sessions. The online study and on-campus sessions are delivered in parallel, by one course instructor.<br>Training is delivered at Holmesglen’s Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence, Australia’s premier facility for delivering nationally accredited training in solar energy. A $2.1 million upgrade, fully funded by the Victorian Government, to our renewable energy training facilities has just been completed and includes the installation of new solar panels and electric vehicle charging stations at the Moorabbin campus. This gives learners hands-on experience using premium equipment and technologies and experience with commercial systems, and provides Holmesglen with the capacity to train workers for Victoria’s clean energy future.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<p>This program is for qualified A-Grade electricians with a CEC accreditation for Design and Install Grid Connected PV Systems.<p>Holmesglen requires all learners to be a qualified electrician or hold an ‘Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence’ or equivalent, issued in an Australian state or territory; and hold accreditation in Design and Install Grid Connected PV Systems, or have provisional Solar Accreditation with the Clean Energy Council.
Holmesglen recommends secondary Year 11 level numeracy and literacy or successful completion of vocational certificate/s to be suitable for this course.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. <strong>Online study</strong><br>The online component covers all the theoretical knowledge and assessment required for design and installation of grid-connected PV systems.<p>You will be provided with a course book, access to our online learning resources, and ongoing support with the course instructor.<p>You must successfully complete compulsory online coursework prior to attending a related practical workshop session.<p><strong>Practical workshop</strong><br>The workshops will include a review of online content to ensure you obtain a thorough understanding of all design and theoretical knowledge, and cover all the practical requirements and assessment for the course, including installation of Grid-Connected Battery Storage systems. <p>Attendance at the practical workshops is compulsory.

Assessment
