This short course provides nationally accredited training for electricians in the design and installation of grid-connected PV systems.

Studying the Design and Install Grid Connect PV Systems at Holmesglen

The course is delivered by Holmesglen’s Renewable Energy Centre of Excellence - Australia’s premier facility for delivering nationally accredited training in solar energy. Designed to provide real-world hands-on simulated practical activities, our students get unrivalled training with access to premium equipment.<p>Successful completion meets the Clean Energy Council Accreditation pathway and will entitle licensed electricians to apply for Provisional Accreditation for Design and Install of Grid-connected PV systems.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<p>Unrestricted Electrician's Licence
<strong>Commencing study</strong><br>You will be contacted by the course instructor to discuss the program and schedule. You will also be provided with all course resources to commence the online course work.
Learners who are qualified Electrician's or holder of an 'Unrestricted Electrician's Licence' or equivalent, issued in an Australian State or Territory, and have vocational experience in the industry, and seeking Design and Install Grid-Connect Accreditation.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

This course blends online learning with practical face-to-face on-campus workshops.<p>Students are required to complete online study and attend a series of on-campus practical workshop sessions. The online study and on-campus sessions are delivered in parallel, by one course instructor.<p><strong>Online study</strong><br>The online component covers all the theoretical knowledge and assessment required for design and installation of grid-connected PV systems.<p>You will be provided with a course book, access to our online learning resources, and ongoing support with the course instructor.<p>You must successfully complete compulsory online coursework prior to attending a related practical workshop session.<p><strong>Practical workshop</strong><br>The workshops will include a review of online content to ensure you obtain a thorough understanding of all design and theoretical knowledge, and cover all the practical requirements and assessment for the course, including installation of Grid-Connected PV systems. Attendance at the practical workshops is compulsory.<p>Workshops will be delivered in our purpose built Holmesglen Renewable Energy Training Centre of Excellence at our Moorabbin campus, built in partnership with State Government and industry.

Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

Additional Course Cost

The required personal protective equipment students will need to supply is: Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) Safety pants<br>Work shirt (waist length jacket, if cold) Safety glasses<br>Total costs depending on brands for the above items is approximately $200 - $250.
