Studying the Certificate III in Plumbing at Holmesglen
You will gain skills in areas such as welding, water supply, drainage, sanitary, gasfitting, roofing and mechanical services.
This course is delivered in Holmesglen's specially designed plumbing facilities, where an emphasis is placed on providing hands on learning.
You will be taught by professional teachers who have all completed formal apprenticeships and have extensive experience in the plumbing industry.
Apprentices will then be eligible to sit the “journeymans” exam required by the plumbing governing body, the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) to become a 'Registered' plumber.
The course starts with training basic skills associated with the plumbing industry, with a focus on developing your hand skills.
Once you have completed the basic skills aspect, you will move onto more advanced tasks.

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
As this is an apprenticeship, students must have a training agreement with a registered employer from a relevant industry.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Read more about Recognition of Prior Learning, Credits and Advanced Standing.
Qualification and recognition
On completion, apprentices will receive the CPC32413 Certificate III in Plumbing.
How to apply
A training contract must be completed by the employer and apprentice within the first two weeks of employment.
A representative from the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network will visit the workplace to complete the training contract with the employer and the apprentice.
