Studying the Certificate III in Cabinet Making (Kitchens and Bathrooms) at Holmesglen
You will learn to use a range of specialist machinery, including CNC machining and processing centres (rail and flat-bed), as well as preparing and working from computer-aided drawings and associated cutting lists.
With regards to each machine, you will learn about the material you are processing and how to use the machine itself - from basic to high-end production machinery such as computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines.
You will be taught the correct setup, operational, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting of machining and construction methods for the kitchen, bathroom, and furniture making process.
There are two possible specialist streams in this qualification:
Stream 1: Kitchen Bathroom
Stream 2: Furniture

Assessment
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
Entry requirements
As this is an apprenticeship delivery, Prior to enrolment or commencement of training the student will be required to have an Epsilon registration and signed contract with an employer and a signed training plan with the RTO.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training the student will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment (BKSB) and a pre-training review interview. These will assist with determining suitability for the course, variations to the training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. How to apply
Apprenticeship
A training contract must be completed by the employer and apprentice within the first two weeks of employment.
An Australian Apprenticeship Support Network representative will visit the workplace to complete the training contract with the employer and the apprentice.
