Overview

The Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician is the course you need to complete before you can sit for Energy Safe Victoria's Electrician's Licence and provides the background knowledge and skills required for successful work in the electrical industry.<p>As a licensed electrician, you will be able to work on all types of electrical installations, which include the wiring of all commercial, residential and industrial installations.<br>You will also have the responsibility for the maintenance of electrical equipment throughout the industry.

Entry Requirements

Holmesglen requires all applicants to be engaged in an Electrical Apprenticeship. You must be signed up as an Apprentice with your chosen employer and have a Delta number stating Holmesglen is your selected training provider.<p>In addition, you must be at least 16 years of age when enrolling in the program.<p>It is recommended that applicants have completed Year 11 or equivalent and have a minimum of Year 10 English and Mathematics.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. This program offers 2 study streams: <br>Grid Connected PV offering you the skills to work with renewable energy, solar systems, and a telecommunications stream. UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, Apprenticeship Course, Telecommunications Stream.<p>The telecommunications stream and renewable energy are available at Moorabbin. <p>Training on campus is offered as day release, where apprentices are employed full-time in industry and attend on-campus training for 1 day/week on an ongoing basis typically scheduled over approximately the first 3 years, and the final year is fully on the job, with the Trainer/Assessor maintaining regular contact and support and, where required, attending off-the-job training.<p>Contact the department for more details about the program pathways and program delivery.

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

How to apply

Apprenticeship
