The Certificate III in Joinery provides comprehensive training in all practical and theoretical aspects of joinery.
You will learn to use a range of specialist machinery, as well as preparing and working from computer-aided drawings and associated cutting lists. In regards to each machine, you will learn about the material you are processing and how to use the machine itself - from basic to high-end production machinery such as computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines.
You will learn to use Oxy-LPG equipment, as well as to cut and install glass, install windows and doors and undertake sustainable practices in the construction industry.
You'll be trained on full-sized projects in Holmesglen's specially designed and industry-standard facilities.
Course structure
ASSESSMENT
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
SUBJECTS
Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry
Handle carpentry materials
Use carpentry tools and equipment
Carry out measurements and calculations
Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry
Set up, operate and maintain sawing machines
Cut and bend materials using oxy-LPG equipment
Conduct workplace communication
Read and interpret plans and specifications
Install lining, panelling and moulding
Use Computer-controlled Machinery
Set up, operate and maintain computer numerically controlled (CNC) sizing machines
Use explosive power tools
Apply And Install Sealant And Sealant Devices
Package Manufactured Products For Transport
Apply basic levelling procedures
Apply and trim decorative finishes
Prepare for off-site manufacturing process
Manufacture Components For Door And Window Frames And Doors
Manufacture Joinery Components
Install And Replace Windows And Doors
Set Out And Asemble Cabinets, Showcases, Wall Units, Counters And Workstations
Entry requirements
Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5
(Academic) with no individual bandscore less than 5.5.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Outcomes
QUALIFICATION AND RECOGNITION
On completion, you will receive the Certificate III in Joinery.
