Studying the Certificate III in Carpentry at Holmesglen
This course is delivered in Holmesglen's specially designed facilities, where an emphasis is placed on providing hands-on, practical training wherever possible.
All workshop training is delivered by professional teachers, who have worked as carpenters in the building and construction sector prior to undertaking their teaching qualifications.
Carpenters are the key players in domestic house construction, often the first onsite and the last to leave.
While carpenters have their specific skills and tasks to perform in the building process, they must also have knowledge of all other trades as a carpenter's work often accommodates the other trades who follow them.

Assessment
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
Entry requirements
To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years old, and it is recommended that they have worked in the industry for at least 5 years.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. On completion you will receive the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry.

Holmesglen's Carpentry Department has strong connections with the Master Builders Association (MBA), Housing Industry Association (HIA) and many commercial and domestic builders. The CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry is a nationally recognised qualification supported by the MBA and HIA.
