The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety will help you develop your knowledge of key workplace safety.
The course covers compliance with WHS law, identification of hazards, incidence response and managing claims. It aims to equip you with practical skills and current best practice and WHS requirements.
On completion, you'll be qualified to work as enterprise-based WHS officer, coordinator and or advisor, specialising in the following areas:
- hazard identification and risk control
- emergency and incident response
- consultative process
- systematic WHS management
- WHS initiatives
- claims management, rehabilitation and return-to-work programs
- project work.
To receive this qualification you must complete five core units and five elective units.
Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.
If you have already completed other eligible elective units, these may be counted towards completion of this course.
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
Assist with Compliance with WHS laws
Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes
Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems
Assist with responding to incidents
Assist with claims management, rehabilitation and return-to-work programs
Assist with effective WHS management of contractors
Assist with workplace monitor processes
Contribute to work-related health and safety measures and initiatives
Investigate WHS incidents
There are no formal entry requirements.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.
These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. QUALIFICATION AND RECOGNITION
After completing this course, you will receive the nationally accredited BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
Students can go on to study the Diploma of Work Health and Safety.
