This Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship (Painting) will provide you with skills and knowledge in painting and decorating, including colour theory and practice, timber staining and paint application, environmental sustainability and workplace safety.

It is delivered in Holmesglen's specially designed facilities, where an emphasis is placed on providing hands on, practical training wherever possible.

This is a Free TAFE course 

Students who are eligible for Victorian Government subsidised training may not have to pay course tuition fees when they enrol in a Free TAFE course.

Entry requirements

Students can enter the Certificate II in Building and Construction – Painting and Decorating Pre-apprenticeship through the following ways:
• Leaving school and applying to enter the course
• Completing VCAL or VETiS and applying to enter the course
• As a mature aged or retraining student and applying to enter the course

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Outcomes

QUALIFICATION AND RECOGNITION

After successfully completing this course, you will be eligible to receive the 22338VIC Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship and receive credits towards apprenticeship courses in the painting and decorating field.

PATHWAYS

Graduates may go onto study the CPC30611 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating.

Painting and Decorating Open Days

Holmesglen offers simulated painting and decorating workshops that exceed industry standards, giving you real hands on experience in world class facilities. With close ties to the industry and a high employability rate, these programs are a great first step towards a career in painting and decorating - no matter what your age. Visit us on Open Day at 6.30pm for a formal presentation highlighting the unique elements and importance of each of the building trades. Following the presentation there will be a tour across each of the trades workshops with teachers available to answer any specific questions.
