The Certificate II in Printing and Graphic Arts (General) will give you an an insight into the printing industry and provide you with the skills and knowledge you need for digital printing. It covers basic design, digital photography, customer service, digital printing systems and processes.

Students who complete the course are able to find work in a number of print sectors including commercial printing, publishing, signage and packaging, or can go on to further training in related trades.

After successfully completing this course, trainees will get advanced standing into the apprenticeship program and a direct credit of all competencies that are successfully completed.

The course is delivered in Holmesglen's specially designed digital print facilities, where an emphasis is placed on providing hands on, practical training wherever possible.

This is a Free TAFE course 

Students who are eligible for Victorian Government subsidised training may not have to pay course tuition fees when they enrol in a Free TAFE course.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.

These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.


You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. After completing this course, you will receive the ICP20115 Certificate II in Printing and Graphic Arts. You will also receive credits towards apprenticeship programs in the printing industry sectors


Students who complete this course can gain full time work in a number of sectors including commercial printing, publishing, signage and packaging, or go on to further training in related trades.
