The Diploma of Graphic Design will allow you to combine your technical, creative and conceptual skills to create designs that meet client requirements and solve a range of visual communication challenges.

You will gain strong technical skills, develop a sound understanding of design theory and practice, and be able to analyse and synthesize information from a range of sources to generate design solutions.

Graphic designers work in many different commercial and community contexts across both print and digital media.

Briefs include or have links to areas such as advertising and promotion, art direction, branding, corporate identity, instructional design, packaging, signage and UX and UI design.

Throughout this course, you will also be introduced to industry briefs, have exciting opportunities to enter competitions, attend design industry events, and have access to professionals from the graphic design industry. Our experienced and supportive staff are drawn from industry and students study in our outstanding facilities using the latest software and equipment.

Entry requirements

Good passes at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent including passes in Art and Design and
preferably some relevant work experience.Students will need to present a digital folio as part of the entry requirements.

English language proficiency equivalent to IELTSĀ 5.5 (Academic) with no individual bandscore
less than 5.5.

Students who do not meet the entry requirements for this course may undertake the Certificate IV in Design. Satisfactory completion of the Certificate IV in Design provides guaranteed entry to the Diploma of Graphic Design.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Outcomes

QUALIFICATION AND RECOGNITION

On completion, students will receive the Diploma of Graphic Design.

PATHWAYS

The conceptual and theoretical content in this qualification also supports learning at higher levels. Graduates may engage in further learning in vocational and higher education through Advanced Diploma and Degree qualifications in graphic design and broader areas of practice, such as digital media or other design disciplines.
