Naila becomes a lab technician in Australia

Graduate Naila Farhan says placements she undertook as part of her two Holmesglen lab tech courses played a crucial role in securing her an exciting new job as a medical lab technician at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
“I did work placement at Dorevitch Pathology during my certificate IV which helped me to gain practical knowledge about the industry. I also worked at Australian Clinical Labs for two weeks during the diploma.
“Whenever I had interviews, they would always ask me about my work placement, so it’s important to have that experience.”
Naila had already completed a biochemistry degree overseas when a trip to campus for a Holmesglen Open Day persuaded her to enrol for the MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, which she followed up with a diploma.
Naila is continuing her studies with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Deakin University after receiving credits for five of the subjects she completed at Holmesglen.
She says the Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques is a great starting point for a career in science.
“It gives you practical techniques to get a job and a great knowledge in chemistry, maths, computer and microscopy
