Our Skills and Jobs Centre has celebrated a major milestone, connecting over 1000 students with successful employment outcomes.
Each year, the team helps students from across the Institute with career counselling, skills assessment and training advice, consultations, workshops, and more.
Skills and Jobs Centre Coordinator Cassie Jovan says helping students gain employment is the Centre’s main goal and the achievement reflects the team’s passion and commitment.
“Each day is an opportunity to help more students find work, gain confidence with their skills, and guide them to their dream careers.
“We’re really proud of what the Skills and Jobs Centre has been able to achieve and look forward to providing even more opportunities in 2021 and beyond.”

Community outreach support
An innovative community outreach program connected refugees with employment support in Melbourne.
A Skills and Jobs Centre résumé development workshop, which was run together with local social justice community group Stand Up, gave Sudanese women the chance to grow their career opportunities by providing them with résumé and job application support.
Our Skills and Jobs Centre, working to support the Department of Justice, helped individuals, including Daniel Jaffe, secure full-time work. The team connected Daniel with the SUPLIFT001 Skills Uplift – Civil Construction Traffic Management Pathway Program, which lead him to work as a labourer.
International student support during the pandemic
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Skills and Jobs Centre provided timely application skills, interview preparation and job search support. In July 2020, they placed five learners in new employment in the allied health and construction sectors and continue to support students with new career opportunities.
