Holmesglen students experience V8 Supercar excursion
Inspiration brimmed and experience was gained when a group of VCAL students received the opportunity to visit a V8 Supercar team.
The Holmesglen students visited the headquarters of Garry Rogers Motorsport, where they were treated to a comprehensive tour of the facilities. They were shown vehicle construction, engineering, chassis metal fabrication, composites manufacturing, and wheels and tyres. The students were also able to see the benefits and success that come from hard work when they viewed the trophy room.
GRM Manager of Composites, Scott Compson, led the tour. He offered motivation for the students when he told them that GRM and associated suppliers would offer two-week work experience opportunities later in 2017.
The VCAL class also met with V8 Supercar drivers, Scott McLaughlan and James Moffat, who gave them autographed cards.
Holmesglen has been an active participant in the engineering industry. In late 2016, a group of VCAL students from the Waverley and Moorabbin campuses proudly represented the Institute at the 2016 RACV Energy Breakthrough.
