Assistance for learners in financial difficulty
Whether you have lost your job, are struggling to access or remain in safe housing, or require assistance to purchase food, the Holmesglen Foundation offers financial assistance grants to current learners who are experiencing financial difficulty.
Available through the generosity of donors, this assistance is an important addition to other forms of support Holmesglen provides to help learners continue their studies in the face of challenges.
Grants of up to $500 are available to assist with:
- living costs such as food, rent and utilities
- placement costs such as accommodation, food and transport
- equipment necessary for your course, such as uniforms, tools or safety gear
Grants are open to local and international students currently enrolled in Holmesglen courses.
All applications will be considered by the Holmesglen Foundation. The Foundation may match you with existing grants/scholarships for which you are eligible.

Grants will be distributed to eligible applicants who plan to continue and complete their studies with Holmesglen and who are assessed to demonstrate the greatest need. The aim is to provide emergency support where it is needed most.
The Foundation assesses applications on a regular basis. Incomplete applications may delay consideration.
Applications close at midnight on the following dates:
In 2021, these dates are:
13 June 2021
4 July 2021
1 August 2021
5 September 2021
10 October 2021
14 November 2021
The Foundation will acknowledge applications received up to the monthly closing date, and provide applicants with an estimate of when you should expect an outcome on your application. Applications received after a closing date will automatically be in line for consideration at the next available date.
To be eligible for this financial assistance, applicants must be:
- a currently-enrolled learner in a Holmesglen course
- experiencing financial difficulty that affects their studies
Students who have temporarily deferred from their course may apply, but must do so with the support of a Holmesglen staff member, such as a support officer, counsellor, or teacher. Such applications will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Recipients of grants will be selected by the Holmesglen Foundation based on:
- demonstration of financial difficulty
- personal statements as outlined on the application form
- information provided as part of follow up contact or interviews.
The Foundation’s decision on any financial assistance application is final. Unfortunately, no correspondence concerning decisions can be entered into.
