Studying the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance at Holmesglen

The course is delivered at our Moorabbin campus and will provide you with comprehensive training to perform essential services such as patient transport and movement, food services, maintaining beds, infection control and critical cleaning.<p>All units are taught by our experienced teaching team who maintain their industry currency within the hospital and healthcare industry. <p>Your learning will be supported through a range of classes, online activities and tutorials. Practical sessions are conducted in our state-of-the-art allied health facility, with simulated hospital and operating theatre environments.<p>At the end of the course, students will need to undertake a compulsory two-week industry placement arranged through the Holmesglen Clinical Placement Office. <p>Placements aim to give students the opportunity to complete assessments in the workplace as well as provide industry-specific work experience. <p>This experience is an opportunity to both solidify training undertaken at Holmesglen as well as improve students' chances of finding employment upon completion of the course.

Entry Requirements

Prior to enrolment or commencement of training, students will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment (BKSB test) and a pre-training interview. <p>At this face-to-face interview, students will be asked a number of questions including some contextualised questions regarding the course. The BKSB test results, in conjunction with the interview, assists with determining the prospective student's suitability for the course and to identify any learning support needs.
Prior to undertaking mandatory clinical placement, students will need to provide their health and immunisation status, complete a National Police Records Check annually and hold a valid Working with Children Check for employees. In order for this to occur, students must be aged at least 18 at course commencement.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Assessment
